Program Lead, Parent & Tot

Position Type: Part-Time / Seasonal

Reports To: House League Manager

Compensation: $25/session

Availability Required: Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings

Position Summary

The Parent & Tot Program Leader is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and delivery of Kitchener Soccer Club’s Parent & Tot soccer sessions (ages 2.5-3 years of age). A club approved curriculum will be provided. This leadership role oversees session structure, supports instructional staff, and ensures a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate experience for young participants and their caregivers. The Leader sets the tone for the program by creating a welcoming, energetic, inclusive, and organized environment that promotes physical literacy, confidence, and a love of movement through soccer.


Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Oversight

  • Prepare weekly session plans aligned with the curriculum provided.
  • Lead and supervise all Parent & Tot instructors and sessions.
  • Provide direction and support to Parent & Tot Instructors.
  • Ensure sessions run smoothly, safely, and on schedule.
  • Adapt programming as needed to meet developmental levels within the group.

Instruction & Engagement

  • Deliver energetic, structured, and age-appropriate activities to the instructors and the participants. 
  • Encourage positive parent participation and model effective support strategies. 
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all families.

Operations 

  • Arrive prepared and on time for each session.
  • Oversee equipment set-up and take-down.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for parents during the program.
  • Represent Kitchener Soccer Club in a positive and professional manner.
  • Communicate effectively with Club staff and families.
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to Instructors.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children preferred.
  • Previous leadership, coaching, or instructional experience preferred.
  • Confident leading both children and adults in a group setting.
  • Energetic, patient, adaptable, well-organized, and committed to creating a fun and engaging experience for every participant.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Available to work evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the outdoor season, as programming is scheduled during these times.

Instructor, Parent & Tot

Position Summary

The Parent & Tot Instructor is responsible for leading and delivering engaging, age-appropriate soccer sessions for children 2.5-3 years of age and their caregivers under the guidance of the Parent & Tot Program Leader. This is a front-line instructional role. Instructors actively lead activities, demonstrate movements, engage families, and ensure sessions are fun, energetic, safe, and developmentally appropriate. The instructor brings the session plan to life while maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment for both children and parents.

Key Responsibilities

Session Delivery & Instruction

  • Lead activities as provided by the Program Leader.
  • Deliver structured, age-appropriate drills and games focused on fundamental movement skills as per the curriculum provided.
  • Demonstrate activities clearly for both children and caregivers.
  • Maintain high energy and positive engagement throughout the session.
  • Adapt instruction in the moment to meet varying attention spans and developmental levels.

Participant Engagement

  • Create a fun, encouraging, and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Support caregivers in understanding how to participate and assist their child.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and celebrate effort.
  • Help manage group flow and transitions between activities.
  • Monitor children closely during all activities.
  • Ensure equipment is used safely and appropriately.
  • Maintain awareness of the playing space at all times.

Program Support

  • Assist with equipment set-up and take-down.
  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to lead.
  • Follow directions from the Program Leader to ensure consistency across sessions.
  • Represent Kitchener Soccer Club in a professional manner.
